PPG Introduces OneChoice Plastic Prep System
PPG Automotive Refinish has introduced the OneChoice(TM) Plastic Prep System (Patent Pending). PPG said in a press release that the system offers a simple, 3-step process to create superior adhesion for refinish of plastic substrates.
“Utilizing NanoAdhesion technology, this innovative Plastic Prep System is significantly faster than conventional methods and can dramatically reduce paint operation cycle time,” said Mark Rapson, product manager for PPG Automotive Refinish. “The NanoAdhesion technology incorporated into the system components assures you of superior adhesion.”
The system is applied in three easy steps:
1. SU4901 Clean and Scuff Sponge is pre-saturated with a cleaning solution, specifically designed to lightly abrade the plastic part and remove contamination in a single step.
2. Next, SU4902 Plastic Adhesion Wipe, also pre-saturated, is formulated with PPG NanoAdhesion technology designed to apply advanced film-forming adhesive and anti-static material to unprimed plastic in a single step.
3. Last, either SUA4903 (Aerosol) Advanced Plastic Bond, or SU4903, a ready-to-spray product, is applied. Both provide superior chemical adhesion to all common unprimed automotive plastic substrates.
“The OneChoice Plastic Prep System is for universal use under PPG brand topcoats and undercoats,” Rapson added. “Because the system is so convenient, it simplifies the plastic refinish prep process, and significantly reduces the potential for warranty repairs.
“The OneChoice Plastic Prep System is the first offering of the new OneChoice Universal Ancillary Brand from PPG Automotive Refinish. PPG will soon launch other products systems within this premium brand, all designed for use with all PPG brand refinish systems. The new brand will offer universal technologies that eliminate the need to stock individual brand ancillaries. Also, products featured under the OneChoice brand will be included under PPG refinish warranty programs.
